Having grown up on a ranch in the foothills of California's Santa Cruz Mountains, I feel very much at home wandering through the trees. That rural childhood taught me a lot about how to enter and observe a scene without disturbing it, and to pay close attention to subtle changes in the weather, the season, and the light. Now living in Maine, I continue that quiet experience of the natural world, and hope that my photographs convey a sense of place and mood.
